On Tuesday 9 October, techUK and Women in Tech Policy Network joined forces to run an unconference. The focus was simple, bring together women working in the tech sector and with an interest in tech policy to discuss the key policy topics of the day.

As AI becomes more prevalent, organisations face two interconnected challenges: ensuring their AI systems operate safely and reliably (AI assurance) and managing the financial risks when they don't (AI insurance). 

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) published a discussion paper examining how competition policy can support the UK's scale-up ecosystem as part of the government's industrial strategy. The paper is particularly relevant for high-growth sectors identified in the Industrial Strategy (IS-8), including the digital and technologies sector.

Last Thursday, 31 July, the UK government released their Small Business Plan alongside the industry-led SME Digital Adoption report. This report sets out an ambition for growth and prosperity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the adoption of digital technology and a 10-step action plan for government.
