Innovations in Physical AI: investigating the UK’s comparative advantage in physical AI systems
Physical AI is emerging as a significant frontier in AI development, combining perception, reasoning and adaptive action in real-world environments through robotics, smart machines and intelligent physical systems. As applications expand across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and infrastructure, the UK has an opportunity to define where it can lead and how adoption can be supported responsibly.
This three-part techUK workshop series explores the economic potential of physical AI, the deployment challenges in safety-critical environments, and the regulatory frameworks needed to enable innovation while protecting public safety. Bringing together industry perspectives, the series will help shape a clearer view of the UK’s readiness for physical AI applications and identify where technology, policy and market opportunity intersect.
Workshop themes include:
• Deploying physical AI in safety-critical environments: standards, testing and risk management
• Regulatory frameworks for physical AI: enabling innovation while protecting public safety
• The economic case for physical AI: identifying the UK’s sectoral opportunities
Agentic AI Series
Agentic AI systems—capable of autonomous decision-making across a variety of tasks—represent a step-change in how AI is embedded into products, services, and organisational workflows. Unlike previous AI innovations, agentic systems can plan, execute tasks independently, and coordinate with other agents to reshape entire workflows and fundamentally change how work is designed and managed.
The below workshops are open to techUK members working on the development, deployment, governance, and adoption of agentic AI:
