techUK invites members to join our delegation to Geneva from 14-17 September for the WTO’s Public Forum.

The delegation will include the WTO Public Forum, taking place in Geneva on Tuesday 15 – Thursday 17 September 2026, and World Trade Tech and Trade Day, taking place on Monday 14 September.

WTO Public Forum

The WTO Public Forum gathers over 2,000 representatives of civil society, academia, business, government, international organisations and media to Geneva to discuss the latest developments in global trade.

This year’s Forum comes after the end of the WTO e-commerce moratorium at MC14 in March 2026 in Cameroon. With the future of digital trade in doubt, the Forum will provide a unique opportunity to help shape the dialogue following MC14, as well as the plurinational efforts to secure the future of digital trade and the trade in services it enables.

Focus Theme: Trade in Services

The 2026 Public Forum will examine how to ensure that trade in services is based on strong rules that facilitate growth, promote innovation and open new market opportunities for trade in services across the world. techUK will facilitate opportunities for members to engage with WTO delegates and other key stakeholders on the sidelines of the Forum, helping ensure the UK tech sector’s voice is heard in discussions that will impact the future of the global services trade made possible by digital.

World Tech and Trade Day

World Tech and Trade Day will take place the day before the WTO Public Forum, and is a chance to meet trade and ICT policymakers, industry leaders, and other ecosystem stakeholders working on the focus this year:

Focus Theme: AI and Trade: Turning Potential into Progress

The WTO's 2025 World Trade Report projects that AI could increase global GDP by 15% and global trade by up to 37% by 2040, however this potential needs to be turned into actual progress through collaboration between international organisations, national governments and the private sector.

The day will include policy sessions examining concrete use cases of AI reducing trade costs, policy measures that unlock deployment even with limited resources, how alignment of digital and trade policies can accelerate gains, and the role that trade policies and the WTO can play in shaping AI governance.

There will also be an exhibition featuring AI solutions for trade, AI tools for trade officials, and posters on real-world case studies of AI in trade.
