Join techUK on Tuesday 3 June, 2pm to 4pm, for a discussion on Cyber Security Standards in the NHS with special guest Phil Huggins, Director of Cyber Policy and Chief Information Security Officer at the Department of Health and Social Care.

The Joint Cyber Unit has announced that they are seeking to co-develop a voluntary charter with industry that outlines proactive steps to manage systemic third-party supply chain risk. The charter will enable current and future suppliers to publicly pledge to be a trusted partner to the health and care system.

In discussions around next steps, themes have emerged that have focussed on raising standards of cyber security through engaging with NHS Supply Chain, exploring mechanisms driven by industry; and on self-regulation that could mitigate the need for future regulation from NHSE. There have also been questions around the role that larger organisations can play in helping to incentivise industry to deliver on this.

This event will be an opportunity to bring key stakeholders from the across the cyber security and health sectors together to share knowledge and best practice on the challenges regarding cyber security in the NHS, such as:

  • Resources;
  • Challenges around knowledge and access;
  • Codes of practice;
  • Incentives; and
  • Direction setting.
