Thursday 3 September 2026, 12:00 – 13:00 BST Online (recording will be made available on the techUK website)

The UK Government's Law Commission is currently exploring the potential introduction of a dedicated consumer class action regime and has launched an initial scoping exercise to gather stakeholder views. This is a significant development for businesses operating in UK consumer markets, with the potential to reshape the UK's collective redress landscape and increase exposure to mass consumer claims.

techUK will be responding to the Law Commission's questionnaire through inviting members to feed in views, so we are convening a member webinar in partnership with Linklaters to discuss the key issues under consideration and begin to gather industry perspectives.

Session overview

The discussion will be led by legal experts on consumer protection and competition from Linklaters.

Following the webinar, techUK and Linklaters will use the discussion to inform a draft response to the Law Commission's scoping questionnaire, providing members with a further opportunity to contribute ahead of submission.

Who should attend

We encourage all interested members to join the discussion and help ensure the technology sector's perspective is reflected in this important policy debate.
