Business and nature investment: techUK National Nature Fund

Nature restoration is one of the key tools for increasing resilience to climate risk. However, although the UK government has committed to national and international targets to improve nature and biodiversity, there remains a significant gap in financing the projects which will enable restoration.

The techUK National Nature Fund (NNF) is designed to help close this gap by giving the technology sector a clear, credible and collective route to invest in UK nature restoration, by aggregating funding into curated, UK-based projects. This lowers the barrier to entry, provides confidence that investment translates into real environmental outcomes, and enables companies to become active contributors to the nature-positive transition.

Context on the nature finance gap and why the private sector has a role to play. Additionally, we will also touch on the role of technology in enabling a nature-positive transition.

The National Nature Fund, including aims and structure, and how it has been designed to support businesses to start their nature journey.

Which projects have been chosen, and the assessment process for verifying these. Ecologi, which manages the projects, will briefly run through its assessment framework and why each of the projects were selected, as well as their importance and nature impact. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from Moors for the Future, one of the projects benefitting from the fund.
