This event is open to techUK members, Energy UK members, and stakeholders.

This year has marked a turning point for AI in the energy sector, with Lucy Yu’s Review of AI Deployment in Electricity Networks and the Government’s recently published “Interim AI Adoption Plan: Clean Energy” and upcoming AI in Clean Energy Strategy. Attention is increasingly turning to AI as a technology that can improve demand and weather forecasting, optimise renewable energy generation, support grid balancing, and accelerate R&D in areas such as battery storage. This is in the context of momentum on broader digitalisation, with the Government and Ofgem developing the Energy Digitalisation Framework and consulting on an Energy Smart Data Scheme.

techUK and Energy UK are hosting this event to bring together the energy and tech sectors, enhance understandings of the changing policy landscape, and share learnings and solutions for the acceleration of impactful AI deployment across the energy system.

Key areas

  1. The current policy and regulatory environment, including Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund and the Government’s AI in Clean Energy Strategy
  2. The potential of AI to contribute to decarbonisation and digitalisation objectives, as well as improving system efficiency and reducing costs
  3. High-impact use cases and how to accelerate their deployment
  4. Solutions to overcoming the regulatory and practical barriers facing innovators
  5. Opportunities for tech and energy sector collaboration

Format

There will be two panel sessions: the first looking at how policy is evolving and the second examining the on-the-ground reality of deploying AI technologies, including the opportunities and challenges. These will be followed by networking, including refreshments, giving attendees the opportunity to interact with each other and the stand holders.
