Quantum systems are becoming harder to control as they scale, and AI is emerging as a promising approach to managing that complexity. From optimising calibration and control to stabilising noisy devices, AI is already helping to unlock performance gains in today’s quantum hardware. But where can it deliver real impact now? And what’s needed to accelerate progress in the UK?

This roundtable will bring together leaders from industry, academia, and government to cut through the hype and focus on practical convergence. From faster R&D cycles to more reliable system performance, we’ll explore how AI can support near-term advances in quantum computing and identify the most promising use cases over the next 18 to 24 months.

At the same time, the session will tackle the barriers holding the UK back: fragmented ecosystems, limited cross-sector collaboration, skills gaps, and constrained access to infrastructure. With AI and quantum often developing in silos, this is a critical moment to align efforts and define a more coordinated approach.

This session will:

  • Pinpoint high-impact, near-term use cases for AI in quantum computing
  • Identify the enablers needed to scale adoption, from skills to infrastructure
  • Explore how government and industry can better coordinate to support convergence

Insights from the discussion will feed directly into techUK’s policy recommendations, shaping a clear, evidence-based view of how the UK can lead in this emerging space.

Full agenda to be announced shortly.

techUK's Emerging Tech Network

This roundtable has been proposed and shaped by techUK’s Emerging Tech Leadership Committee, which brings together approximately 35 of the UK’s most innovative technology companies to ensure the UK is well equipped to seize the immense opportunity presented by emerging and converging technologies.

The session is part of techUK’s year-long focus on Frontier Compute,  convening  industry, policymakers, and researchers to explore how the UK can lead in advanced compute capabilities spanning quantum, photonic, neuromorphic, and biological compute. techUK members can get involved through speaking, writing, networking, policy, or sponsorship opportunities.
