techUK is delighted to be hosting this briefing with Andy Haldane, Chair of the Levelling Up Advisory Council and Chief Executive of the Royal Society for Arts.

Levelling Up has been a flagship policy of the Government with the White Paper setting out that this is a “moral, social and economic programme for the whole of government” to “spread opportunity more equally across the UK.” The Government has also put £4.8billion toward this through specific Levelling Up funding pots, as well as further funding in the Community Ownership, Community Renewal and Shared Prosperity funds.

Andy Haldane was Chief Economist at the Bank of England until June 2021 when he became CEO of the Royal Society for Arts. In June 2022 he was appointed Chair of the Government’s Levelling Up Advisory Council. In this capacity Andy provides insight, challenge and advice to the Government on Levelling Up.

What does Levelling Up mean for business - particularly the tech sector? And why should it matter? How can business get involved and input to the Levelling Up discussion and activity? What progress is being made? And can this continue while energy bills and the cost of living is on the rise? And if so where next for Levelling Up?
