Call for Contributions: Frontier Compute insights

From photonic quantum computers to neuromorphic chips inspired by the human brain, Frontier Compute is the next phase of compute set to enable wide-ranging innovations and applications through the convergence of advanced hardware, software, and infrastructure. But how can the UK turn its world-renowned scientific and technological capabilities into future leadership, and what can industry and government do to make this happen?

Members and stakeholders can contribute insights outlining how the UK can lead on the development and deployment of Frontier Compute technologies – including Quantum, Photonic, Neuromorphic and Biological compute – and showcasing how their organisation is turning this vision into reality.

Submissions will be promoted throughout 2026 and across the UK technology sector via techUK’s website, newsletters, and social channels.

Submission themes

Contributions must align with at least one of the following themes:

  • Applications and Use Cases: Where are Frontier Compute technologies expected to deliver the greatest impact, and which sectors stand to benefit most from their adoption? What emerging or previously intractable problems could be addressed through advances in Frontier Compute, and how might these translate into real-world applications and commercial opportunities?

  • Deployment and Adoption: What factors will determine the successful deployment and scaling of Frontier Compute technologies across UK industries and regions? How are organisations integrating these technologies into existing systems, and what challenges must be addressed to move from experimentation to widespread adoption?

  • Skills and Talent: How can the UK develop the skills and talent required to advance and deploy Frontier Compute technologies? How will these requirements differ from those of existing forms of compute, and what actions should education providers and industry take now to ensure the UK is effectively developing, attracting, and retaining the talent required in the long term?

  • Funding: How can UK businesses secure the investment necessary to develop, commercialise, and scale Frontier Compute technologies? What changes to the funding landscape may be required to support innovation with long development timelines and high technical risk?

  • Infrastructure: How can the UK strengthen its enabling infrastructure (telecoms networks, factories, testing environments…) to support the development and deployment of Frontier Compute technologies at scale?

  • UK Ecosystem and Collaboration: How can the UK foster collaboration across academia, industry, and government to realise the potential of Frontier Compute technologies? Is the UK’s innovation ecosystem sufficiently joined up to compete globally?

  • International Leadership and Supply Chains: How can the UK leverage Frontier Compute to strengthen its position in global markets, enhance supply chain resilience, and drive commercial success internationally? What lessons can the UK learn from other countries?

If you have a proposal for a submission that falls outside these themes, please email [email protected] with a brief outline for us to consider.

Contribution guidelines

All submissions must be of broad interest to the UK's technology sector (rather than a sales pitch or case study format) and be accompanied by an author headshot, brief biography, and the logo(s) of your organisation.

Blogs must contain between 600 and 1000 words. They can include links, images, infographics and videos.

Vlogs must be between 3 and 6 minutes in duration, be submitted with a short title (10 words max) and intro text and take the form of a YouTube link or MP4 file. Email us your video through https://wetransfer.com/ (instructions here). You can find an example vlog here

Please email your submission to [email protected]

Disclaimer: Priority will be given to techUK member organisations and Government stakeholders over non-members. techUK reserves the right to decide whether or not a blog or vlog is published and contributing factors include the degree of alignment with the contribution guidelines, total number of submissions received, and balance between member and non-member contributions.
