Overview

Join techUK for the launch of the Anti-Fraud Report 2025: Technology’s Role in Combatting Fraud.

Fraud is increasingly putting pressure on the UK’s digital and financial systems, and responses can often be fragmented. Our new report looks at how technology, government and law enforcement can work together to address this challenge, drawing on examples from across the tech sector.

This morning session will introduce the report’s findings and outline key points such as:

  1. Building a connected and collaborative anti-fraud ecosystem
  2. Innovating and investing to stay ahead of threats
  3. Enabling resilience for consumers, victims and businesses

The event will open with a networking breakfast, followed by a keynote address and an expert panel discussion exploring industry expectations for the Government’s forthcoming Fraud Strategy. It will conclude with closing remarks and opportunity for some further informal networking.

About The Report

techUK’s Anti-Fraud Report 2025: Technology’s Role in Combatting Fraud sets out how fraud has become a systemic risk to the UK’s digital and financial infrastructure and highlights the practical steps industry and government can take together to strengthen defences.

Developed with input from techUK members, the report:

  • Explores the scale and evolution of online fraud – $1 trillion stolen globally in 2024 partially due to the rise of  new cross-border crime groups.

  • Showcases sector achievements – including case studies from platforms, telecoms, cybersecurity, and digital identity providers that illustrate how technology is detecting, blocking, and disrupting scams, and supporting enforcement.

  • Presents three core recommendations – to build a connected and collaborative anti-fraud ecosystem; to innovate and invest so the UK stays ahead of emerging threats; and to enable resilience for consumers, victims, and businesses.

The report calls for a whole-system response that links law enforcement, government, regulators, and industry; promotes secure and timely data-sharing; and shifts focus from reacting after incidents to addressing vulnerabilities earlier in the attack chain.

By combining evidence, real-world examples, and a clear policy framework, it offers a shared roadmap for tackling online fraud and strengthening trust in the UK’s digital economy.
