Join the National Crime Agency (NCA) for an in person briefing on the UK threat from Serious and Organised Crime (SOC), grounded in the National Strategic Assessment (NSA), the UK’s single authoritative assessment of the SOC threat. The two hour session will comprise an overview of the SOC threat to the UK, delivered by NCA analysts, followed by an interactive question and answer discussion.

Event overview

The National Strategic Assessment of Serious and Organised Crime is published annually and provides a comprehensive overview of the threats posed by serious and organised crime to the UK. It draws on intelligence and contributions from across law enforcement, the security services, government, academia, non governmental organisations, the private sector and overseas partners.

The depth and breadth of the Assessment enable it to inform strategic and operational decision making at the highest levels, shaping national security and law enforcement priorities. techUK members supported the most recent NSA, and this session provides a further opportunity to engage with the process, discuss its findings and help inform future assessments.

This year’s assessment adopted a more impact focused approach, examining serious and organised crime through its effects on communities, UK borders and overseas interests, the online environment, and financial systems.

A central finding is that technological change is reshaping organised crime itself, enabling criminals to operate at greater speed, scale and distance, and to exploit digital platforms, financial services and online infrastructure more effectively.

The assessment highlights the importance of meaningful engagement with industry in understanding these dynamics. For techUK members, this perspective is relevant to managing risk, informing product and policy decisions, and contributing insight that shapes future national threat assessments.
