The Independent Review of Police Force Structures was launched on 16 March 2026, following publication of the Police Reform White Paper, "From Local to National: A New Model for Policing", on 26 January 2026, and is due to report back to the Home Secretary in the summer.

The review, commissioned by the Home Secretary, aims to explore the optimum number and configuration of police forces across England and Wales and to set out a credible path to achieving fewer, larger forces.

This session will:

  • Brief members on the government’s call for evidence and its key themes
  • Identify practical examples, barriers, and enablers from member organisations
  • Develop a coordinated, evidence-based techUK submission representing the voice of the technology industry

Following the discussion, techUK will circulate a draft response to all participants for review and feedback. This feedback will inform the final submission ahead of the 20 May 2026 deadline.

By attending, members will have the opportunity to contribute directly to shaping the future structure of policing, ensuring that digital transformation, innovation, and technology skills are fully recognised as priorities within the review.
