Across the UK, technology is playing an increasingly central role in shaping inclusive economic growth. At a time when innovation, productivity, and social impact must move forward together, industry collaboration has never been more important.
This blog explores the TCS Good Growth initiative within the wider Nation Building agenda, highlighting how AI‑led entrepreneurship can strengthen the UK’s startup ecosystem while aligning with national priorities on innovation and inclusion.
In the UK, women represent only around 20–22% of AI and data‑science professionals, with representation declining at senior leadership levels. This talent gap is reflected in access to capital: around three‑quarters of UK AI venture investment goes to startups with no women founders, while all‑female founding teams continue to receive around 2% of VC funding. Closing these gaps is critical if the UK’s AI‑led growth ambition is to deliver innovation that is both globally competitive and genuinely inclusive.
The UK’s ambition to be a global leader in artificial intelligence and digital innovation depends on the strength and diversity of its startup ecosystem. AI‑first startups are already addressing complex challenges—from sustainability and healthcare to energy and advertising—yet many still face barriers in accessing networks, investment, and real‑world testing environments. Addressing these gaps is essential if innovation is to translate into long‑term national value rather than isolated success stories.
TCS Good Growth is a flagship initiative founded in October 2020 designed to strengthen the UK’s inclusive, AI‑led startup ecosystem while also positively impacting the global ecosystem. TCS has supported this programme and nurtured this community that brings together a large and diverse cohort of startups focused on delivering real‑world outcomes through AI‑first and sustainability‑driven solutions. Today we have a thriving community of over 1500 active women led entrepreneurs and have made an impact to over 5000 companies.
Key characteristics of the Good Growth initiative include:
AI‑led startup community at scale, supporting a large cohort of startups working on practical applications across sectors such as healthcare, sustainable energy, advertising, and ocean mapping.
A proven innovation pipeline, with links to universities, venture capital, incubators, and investment bodies, helping founders move from ideas to scale‑up more effectively.
Strong national credibility, with the initiative referenced in public discussions on the future of UK AI and startup momentum, reinforcing confidence in the UK as a place to start and scale businesses.
Good Growth emphasises ecosystem‑level impact—creating conditions where innovation can thrive repeatedly and responsibly. One example of this impact is quoted below:
“Through the Good Growth platform, not only did we make connections with like-minded female entrepreneurs, but also got our very first Angel investments from the platform's network!”
~ Yun Bing, Co-Founder & CEO, Beautiful Voice.
Yun was selected as a national winner of the Innovate UK Women in Innovation Award 2025 for her AIpowered speech and language therapy platform, Beautiful Voice. She did her first pitch on Beautiful Voice at Good Growth event 4 years ago and received her first angel investment that same day.
A healthy startup ecosystem operates as a flywheel: talent, capital, ideas, and opportunity reinforce one another over time. TCS Good Growth contributes to this dynamic by connecting early‑stage companies with TCS network of clients, experienced partners, investors, and institutions that can accelerate learning and adoption.
By aligning with national narratives around AI leadership and economic growth, this TCS initiative also helps position the UK as a globally attractive environment for entrepreneurs and enables a strong Public-Private partnership. For TCS, this initiative is central to its commitment to serve the wider communities we operate in and to enable thriving collaboration.
As the UK continues to invest in AI capability and digital skills, initiatives like TCS Good Growth demonstrate the value of coordinated, ecosystem‑led approaches to innovation. Inclusive, AI‑driven entrepreneurship is not only a driver of economic growth—it is a mechanism for addressing societal challenges at scale and a shining example of what is a structured approach to Public – Private partnership.
Industry, government, and academia all have a role to play in sustaining this momentum. By working together and focusing on long‑term impact, the UK can continue to build a startup ecosystem that is innovative, inclusive, and globally competitive.
In our pursuit to shape a more equitable future, our March TechTogether campaign will focus on supporting the next generation by joining the National Careers Week campaign, empowering women in tech, advancing equity by design, and evolving the landscape of online safety.
