Home Office research development and innovation strategy: one year on – event round-up

One year on from the launch of the Home Office’s Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Strategy, this session highlighted the progress made in putting RDI at the centre of the Department’s policy and operational work.

The Home Office team provided an update on how RDI is supporting key national security, border security and public safety priorities, including real-world examples of successful research and technology interventions over the past year.

Attendees heard how the Home Office is strengthening its scientific and analytical capability, improving the way it evaluates research impact and reforming the governance of research, development and innovation across the Department.

The session outlined next steps for Strategy implementation, including workforce capability, evidence culture and new opportunities for industry engagement. This included the announcement of a new challenge portal, allowing industry to directly engage with where the Home Office sees the greatest opportunities for partnership across research, technology, data and innovation to support national security and public safety outcomes.

With the Strategy in place until 2030, we are looking forward to hosting further collaborative sessions in the future.
