Event round-up: CCS Big Data & Analytics Commercial Agreement Briefing

A summary and the recording of the briefing session on CCS's Big Data & Analytics Commercial Agreement.

On Tuesday 15 June, techUK was delighted to host Crown Commercial Service (CCS) & HMRC for a market briefing on a new Big Data & Analytics framework* for the UK Public Sector which the two Departments have been collaborating on.

The session introduced plans for this new framework, explaining the agreement’s context and drivers and its proposed structure, the proposed scope of service provision and estimated contract value.

The framework is intended to enable the Public Sector to procure professional services and software related specifically to Big Data & Analytics (BD&A), allowing for innovative and cost-effective ways of processing large volumes of data by providing a data management solution throughout the data lifecycle. This will include capturing and storing data, accessing data and analysing data.

The aims of the agreement are to achieve a diverse supplier ecosystem for all BD&A requirements, a healthy competitive environment and capability growth within the Public Sector. Furthermore, the framework will be a 2-year agreement with two potential 12-month extensions; but it’s recognised that this is a fast paced technology area, so these extensions will be monitored to see whether they are appropriate/fit for purpose. The maximum call-off contract length will be 5 years (including initial term and extensions); and direct awards and further competition and further competition with EOI upfront will be enabled to make the process quicker and more agile.

The agreement is expected to be published on the Find a Tender Service in July 2021, with a view to the framework being live and ready for business in January 2022.
