DBT launches next stage of the Digital Trade Corridor programme

The Department of Business and Trade have announced the findings of Phase One of the programme, and now are inviting businesses trading with France, Germany and the Netherlands to join the next wave of pilots.

Background and Findings

The Digital Trade Corridor programme was first announced in the Government’s Trade Strategy in June 2025, which techUK welcomed, and was established to test how digital trade processes can make importing and exporting faster, simpler and more efficient for businesses. The first phase focused on trade between the UK, France and Germany, covering both imports and exports.

Phase One found that participating businesses handled up to 90% fewer paper documents and a 50% reduction in admin processing time, contributing to an average saving of £100 per shipment. Other reported benefits included improved visibility of documents, and smoother coordination with their trading partners.

You can find the full report here the Gov.uk website, alongside additional resources and guidance on trade digitalisation and what it could mean for your business.

Next steps

DBT is now looking for businesses trading with France, Germany and the Netherlands to join Phase 2 of the programme

For companies that are interested, DBT will be running a series of  workshops starting from 23 July to explain the next phase and what participation would involve.

You can find further information, including webinar dates and joining details, via the Expression of Interest form. Companies interested in taking part are encouraged to attend a workshop before completing and submitting the form.
