techUK’s Social Care Working Group (SCWG) brings together techUK members and representatives from across the social care ecosystem to interrogate the challenges facing adult social care and to explore how technology can deliver better outcomes for people, providers and the wider health and care system.

Facilitated by techUK’s Local Public Services and Health & Social Care Programmes, the SCWG provides a trusted forum for open discussion, collaboration and collective problem-solving. The group brings together organisations of all sizes, from one-person consultancies and SMEs to large technology supplier, alongside voices from across policy, commissioning and care delivery.

What the working group does

The SCWG focuses on identifying practical, deliverable ways that digital technology can support reform in adult social care, improve integration with the NHS, and enable prevention-led, community-based models of care. The group supports members to share insight, shape policy thinking, and engage constructively with national and local stakeholders.

Key focus areas

The Working Group’s core areas of focus include:

  • Building on techUK's Five Point Plan for CareTech
  • Engagement and collaboration with local and national social care organisations and professionals
  • Integration between social care and the NHS
  • Evaluating the use of technology and data in social care
  • Interoperability in social care, including standards

What the group is doing in 2026

In 2026, the SCWG is focused on a more ambitious and outcomes-driven programme of work, including:

  • Developing a major Reimagining CareTech White Paper, setting out how digitally enabled adult social care can unlock the ambitions of the NHS 10-Year Plan
  • Supporting evidence-gathering and engagement with national bodies, including DHSC-led work on interoperability and reform
  • Convening providers and industry through practical workshops, networking sessions and solution showcases
  • Delivering techUK adult social care week

The SCWG is a member-led group and thrives on active participation, shared learning and collaboration across the sector.

If you would like to learn more, or are a techUK member interested in joining the group, please get in touch with the team using the details at the bottom of this page.
