Consumer connected / IoT devices will soon need to meet legally mandated minimum cybersecurity standards in order to access the UK and EU markets.
In the UK, the government are expected to soon pass the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) Bill which will introduce mandatory security requirements for consumer connectable products: https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/3069
In the EU have also passed legislation to require minimum cybersecurity standards for consumer connected devices including mobile phones, smartwatches, fitness trackers and wireless toys: https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_21_5634
To support members in ensuring that your products comply with these requirements, we are running a webinar to introduce the SafeShark consumer IoT cybersecurity assurance scheme: https://safeshark.co.uk/
SafeShark (a joint venture between DTG Testing and Connect Devices) provides testing of consumer IoT products against the international standard EN 303 645, which is the cybersecurity standard that both UK and EU legislation will be based on. It is backed by certification from the British Standards Institution (BSI) who have set up the Consumer IoT Verification Scheme which includes a kite-mark style logo that can be used to differentiate products, highlighting their cyber security performance to consumers and retailers.
The webinar will cover:
• Overview of the latest legislation relating to cyber security of consumer IoT in the UK and EU
• SafeShark’s testing and certification services that support compliance with these laws
• Future evolution of cybersecurity testing and continuous monitoring
