Roundtable with DCMS: Cyber Resilience Consultation
1.30pm – 3pm8 March 2022
Virtual
In January 2022, the Government published theproposal for legislation to improve the UK's cyber resilienceConsultation. The Government have outlined the need for new laws to drive up security standards in outsourced IT services used by almost all UK businesses.
The proposals look to highlight the need to make improvements in the way organisations report cyber security incidents and reforming legislation to be more flexible in its ability to react to the speed of technological change. The proposals covered by the consulations are to:
- Bring additional critical providers of digital services into the UK's cyber security regulatory framework.
- Future-proof the UK's existing cyber security legislation, primarily the Network and Information Systems (NIS) Regulations.
techUK will be developing an official response to the consultation and have already held a member-only roundtable to gather initial opinions on the proposals to help inform our response.
Going one step further, we have invited DCMS to join us for a second roundtable where we will discuss the key issues identified by members including: areas of clarification, areas where industry think more can be done and give DCMS the opportunity to answer those questions.
The roundtable will be attended by Mihai-Alin Rusu at Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) & Stuart Peters, Head, Cyber Resilience at DCMS.
Make sure to book your place now, we are limiting numbers to 30 attendees and one person per company.
If you are unable to attend but would like to input into techUK's response we welcome any written feedback to be submitted to [email protected] by COP 7 March 2022.
