Join us this March for an exclusive industry briefing webinar with the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) on the future of advanced connectivity technology. techUK members and stakeholders will get an inside track on upcoming research funding opportunities, government priorities, and how to position your organisation for success in this rapidly evolving landscape.
Background
Advanced Connectivity Technologies (ACT) are revolutionising how we transmit data across our digital society. These innovations can redefine connectivity for people, devices, and critical infrastructure, unlocking capabilities at unprecedented scale.
As the use of AI and cloud services grows, our networks are carrying more data than ever. While these technologies increase demand, they also offer new opportunities to make networks more efficient and secure.
Within that context, DSIT has identified two Grand Challenges aligned with the objectives set in the Digital and Technologies Sector Plan:
- Secure and resilient connectivity: developing trustworthy, robust and exportable network technologies that protect critical national infrastructure, including terrestrial and non-terrestrial network convergence for better coverage and resilience.
- Sustainable and energy-efficient networks: ensuring digitisation reduces the environmental footprint of telecoms, while managing financial costs and efficiently using spectrum.
The ACT R&D programme is critical in delivering on DSIT's priorities by bringing together industry and academia with a sharp focus on commercialisation. It will leverage UK strengths across sectors, and within telecoms and satellite applications. Your input will ensure the programme remains relevant, forward-looking, and capable of delivering lasting impact.
