The integration of AI innovation into UK national security has become a strategic priority in recent years, prompting a range of initiatives aimed at identifying and adopting cutting-edge private sector capabilities. While there have been notable successes, significant barriers continue to slow the transition from innovative AI products to operational national security capability.

This event will explore the current state of public–private partnerships in national security AI, drawing on new research that identifies the most persistent barriers to effective collaboration and highlights practical pathways to accelerate cooperation. Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts from across the AI ecosystem, the session will examine how the UK can better harness private sector innovation to meet evolving security challenges.
