techUK has long championed a proportionate and evidence-led approach to Online Safety. Since the earliest discussions in Parliament, we have engaged closely with policymakers to ensure that digital regulation supports safer online experiences while remaining workable for industry and balanced in scope.
Throughout the passage of the Online Safety Act and now into the crucial implementation phase, techUK has worked to represent the views of a broad range of technology companies. We have supported members to understand their obligations, while advocating for clarity, consistency, and flexibility in how the rules are applied. Our work has focused on ensuring that the Act is deliverable in practice, does not stifle innovation, and keeps the UK open to digital investment.
Today, our work consists of supporting our members shape the evolving Online Safety landscape by responding to consultations, engaging regularly with parliamentarians, regulators, and civil servants, and facilitating dialogue across the sector. We aim to provide a platform for constructive conversation and help build a regulatory framework that protects users and fosters a thriving digital economy.
