Evidence Pack Discussion Panel: How can SME members realise the ambitions of the 10 Year Plan (sponsored by Mills & Reeve)
11.30am – 12.15pm BST, 2 October 2025 ‐ 45 mins
Panel
As the health and care system looks to the future, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have a critical role to play in driving innovation, agility, and transformation. This panel will explore how the ambitions of the 10 Year Plan can be realised through meaningful engagement with SMEs – ensuring they are not just participants, but key partners in shaping the system.
Panellists will discuss the evolving relationship between SMEs and the NHS, the importance of creating clearer and more consistent pathways to market, and how collaboration – across sectors, regions, and borders – can unlock new opportunities. The conversation will also reflect on the structural and cultural shifts needed to support sustainable innovation, and challenge both industry and system leaders to think differently about how we work together.

Social Care: can a more integrated approach to technology improve people’s lives, reduce pressure on the NHS and save costs?
1.50pm – 2.25pm BST, 2 October 2025 ‐ 35 mins
Breakout
Health and social care services have traditionally operated in silos, but the need for closer integration has never been greater. As the population ages and demand increases, increased collaboration between health and care services is seen as essential to meeting these challenges. This panel will explore whether a more integrated approach to technology in social care can directly improve people’s lives, ease pressure on the NHS, and generate cost savings. Incorporating digital solutions in social care, from electronic care records to assistive and remote monitoring tools, presents an opportunity to better coordinate with the health system and shift care from reactive to proactive support.Speakers

Life Sciences Working Group: How industry can help realise the ambitions set out in the Life Sciences Sector Plan
3.35pm – 4pm BST, 2 October 2025 ‐ 25 mins
Panel
The UK Government’s Life Sciences Sector Plan sets out bold ambitions to drive innovation, improve patient outcomes, and cement the UK’s position as a global leader in life sciences. But success will rely on effective collaboration between government, the NHS, academia, and industry.
This panel will focus on the actions identified by techUK’s Life Sciences Working Group as most critical to our members, including:
• Establishing the Health Data Research Service to support innovation at scale.
• Reducing bureaucracy and standardising contracts to cut clinical trial set-up times to under 150 days by March 2026.
• Substantially enhancing the NIHR offer to SMEs, with new digital connectivity to enable real-world evaluation of AI and other innovations.
