A wide range of innovative companies are supporting first time buyers onto the housing ladder, and we are convening stakeholders to share views on the role that these companies can play in boosting home ownership across the country.

We recognise innovation taking place includes:

  • New financing models to help buyers afford their first home or enable gradual home ownership, including rent-to-own models.
  • Tools helping prospective buyers to develop savings plans, build a positive credit history, and demonstrate credit worthiness in new ways.
  • Other solutions focused on supporting key workers or particular segments of first time buyers into home ownership.

We are keen to surface insights from fintech and proptech companies about how to enable new solutions to support first time buyers across the country at scale. Policymakers will be on the call to hear your feedback, including the Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities.

Some of the discussion points will include:

  • What has been the impact of government schemes on private sector innovation?
  • What are the key barriers to expansion currently?
  • Is there a role for standardisation across the market?
  • Where should government policy go next following Help to Buy?

We welcome representatives from relevant fintech/proptech firms, housing developers, financial institutions, industry bodies and policymakers to join the Roundtable to share views or listen to discussion.
