Government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge: techUK member briefing
2pm – 3pm28 May 2026
Online
On Thursday 28May (14.00-15.00) techUK is delighted to be hosting the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology (DSIT) for a webinar on government’s newly launched, voluntary Cyber Resilience Pledge. This online briefing will provide an opportunity for members to learn more about the pledge, ask any questions about it, and find out how your organisations can join others across the UK in signing up to it.
Background to the Cyber Resilience Pledge
Hostile cyber activity in the UK is growing more intense, frequent and sophisticated. This is causing significant financial and social harm to UK businesses and citizens. The government is taking robust action to protect the nation and, because cyber security is a shared responsibility, is working closely with industry to improve UK cyber resilience.
The government has developed a voluntary Cyber Resilience Pledge which provides a tangible way for organisations to boost their resilience to cyber-attacks and differentiate themselves from their competitors. This will, ultimately, reinforce the message of cyber resilience as a standard expectation of good business practice, and as essential to protecting the UK’s economic and national security.
What is the Cyber Resilience Pledge?
The pledge invites organisations to make a voluntary public commitment to strengthen their cyber resilience by taking three practical actions:
Take a risk-based approaching to requiring Cyber Essentials across supply chains: a. Register to the Cyber Essentials Supplier Check Tool within 2 months of signing the pledge. b. Conduct a comprehensive audit of Cyber Essentials coverage. c. Take a risk-based approach to requiring Cyber Essentials across your supply chain.
In addition to the above 3 actions, organisations signing the pledge would commit to the following:
Encourage these actions within your own supply chains.
Publish the signed pledge declaration on your website.
Why attend this webinar?
During this webinar members will learn more about the government’s new voluntary Cyber Resilience Pledge, why your organisation should sign up to it and how to go about becoming a signatory. You will also have the chance to ask DSIT colleagues any questions they might have about the pledge and its practical implementation.
