The Defence Healthcare Delivery Optimisation (DHDO) Digital Programme is a multi-million-pound (CAT C) programme and forms part of the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) Medical Information Services’ (MedIS) portfolio. DHDO is looking to procure a wide range of primary healthcare digital products and services from multiple healthcare product/service suppliers that will increase options for types of clinical encounters, empower patients by increasing involvement in their own healthcare and contribute to resource optimisation.

The DHDO Programme will deliver a high performance, data driven medical and occupational health service that utilises proven and analytical innovations. Key workstreams include:

  • Patient Access Services:
    • Internet Access Services for Personal Health Record
    • Online Prescription Management
    • Advice and Guidance
    • Appointment Management
    • Digital Triage
    • Video Consultation, etc.
  • Digitally enabled operational management e.g. Workforce Management
  • Information and data exploitation to drive decision-making
  • Harnessing digital healthcare innovation to improve effectiveness and efficiency
  • Coherent through-life Operational Service Management.

About the Defence Healthcare Delivery Optimisation (DHDO) Programme

The DHDO Programme is driving the optimisation and modernisation of the delivery of Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. DHDO will deliver proven digital products and services that will effectively support the wider DHDO programme of continuous improvement, including an ‘At Scale’ flexible delivery model of DPHC services across groups of partnered facilities. DPHC operates across all four nations with a total patient cohort of approximately 220,000, including serving personnel, veterans and their families.
