techUK response to Strategic Defence Review publication

techUK responds to the publication of the Strategic Defence Review.

On Monday 2 June, the Defence Secretary John Healey presented the 62 recommendations of the Strategic Defence Review to the House of Commons, with the promise that the UK would be ‘a leading tech-enabled Defence power, with an Integrated Force that deters, fights and wins through constant innovation at wartime pace’ by 2035.

Responding to the publication of the SDR, techUK’s CEO Julian David said:

"As the trade association for the UK’s technology and digital industries techUK warmly welcomes the publication of the Strategic Defence Review today. The SDR demonstrates a genuine intent by the Ministry of Defence to radically transform the way it operates.

We are delighted to see the SDR recognise the importance of DefTech, with specific commitments on cyber and AI, along with substantial acquisition reforms, enabling the rapid adoption of new and disruptive technologies to help the UK maintain its competitive advantage.

With over 1000 member companies operating across the country, techUK stands ready to work with the MOD as it moves to deliver on the commitments set out in this review."
