techUK members helping to transform public sector digital skills

techUK members are partnering with government to upskill public sector professionals through the Get Tech Certified initiative — empowering a more digitally confident and future-ready workforce.

This autumn, the Government Digital Service (GDS) and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) have launched Get Tech Certified, a new national initiative to help public sector professionals enhance their digital and technology skills.

Running from October 1 to December 31, 2025, the campaign provides all civil and public servants with free access to over 200 learning and certification pathways across key digital domains, including AI and machine learning, software engineering, data, cybersecurity, cloud and platforms, quantum computing, and FinOps.

Delivered in partnership with 16 leading technology training providers, these courses range from introductory sessions to advanced professional certifications. The offer follows the success of last year’s Get Cloud Certified programme, which saw thousands of participants upskill in cloud technologies.

For techUK members, Get Tech Certified represents a positive step in strengthening the UK’s digital capability pipeline and supporting a more digitally confident public sector. A workforce with deeper digital literacy not only accelerates transformation across government but also enhances collaboration between the public and private sectors, driving more effective service delivery and innovation.

techUK members participating in the programme, amongst others, are:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Databricks
  • Google
  • IBM
  • Meta
  • Microsoft
  • Oracle
  • Red Hat
  • Salesforce
  • ServiceNow
  • Snowflake

Members are working with GDS to provide civil servants access to training across:

  • Cloud and Platform Technologies
  • Cyber Security
  • Data
  • FinOps
  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
  • Quantum Computing
  • Software Engineering

By investing in digital upskilling, initiatives like Get Tech Certified help create the conditions for a more resilient, adaptable, and tech-enabled public sector, with the skills needed to deliver on the UK’s ambitions for digital transformation.
