techUK Deputy CEO, Antony Walker, joins new Digital Inclusion Action Committee

Yesterday, 10 July 2025, the UK Government formally announced the Digital Action Committee (DIAC) has had its first meeting, and we are proud to reveal that techUK Deputy CEO, Antony Walker, has been accepted onto the committee as Co-Chair of the Industry Leadership and Partnership sub-committee.

The Digital Inclusion Action Committee was established in the Digital Inclusion Action Plan, published by the government in February, as an external advisory body. Its role is to provide a forum for partnership to drive digital inclusion in policy across government, working closely with the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). The Committee is comprised of national and local experts working to scrutinise, steer and aid how government can help reduce digital exclusion across all regions in the UK.

We are pleased to announce that multiple techUK members will also be joining the committee, with full membership to be announced by DSIT soon.

techUK is proud to have long supported the importance of digital inclusion, by providing a platform for our members to amplify what is restricting digital accessibility and how we can collectively find tangible solutions to improve it. We welcome the formation of the DIAC and look forward to continuing working with government alongside our members and partners to close the digital divide forever.

Get involved with techUK's digital inclusion work

If you are interested in getting involved in techUK’s digital inclusion work, members can join our Digital Inclusion Working Group, which has been established to guide our ongoing digital inclusion efforts, including our engagement with government and Parliamentarians. This includes techUK's promotion of agreed positions on digital inclusion and scrutinising the work of the government in this area on behalf of the tech sector.

Any techUK members that work in the digital inclusion space, or who wish to work in this space, are welcome to join. The group will receive all updates on digital inclusion, including drafts of techUK policy documents, and will meet on an ad-hoc basis to assess major developments in the digital inclusion landscape. Join the Working Group here
