Call for contributions: techUK space data report

Get involved with techUK's major new report examining the real-world value of space data across UK industry.

Space is no longer the exclusive domain of government agencies and aerospace giants. Today, satellite data, Earth observation, geospatial intelligence, and in-orbit services are quietly reshaping how businesses operate across every sector of the UK economy - from monitoring critical infrastructure to optimising logistics, and enabling autonomous systems on the ground.

At techUK, we are developing a major new report examining the real-world value of space data across UK industry. The report will document how organisations are harnessing these capabilities today, identify barriers to adoption, and make the case to government and industry alike for the investments and policy frameworks needed to help the UK remain competitive in this rapidly evolving landscape.

To make this report as authoritative and impactful as possible, we are inviting our members to contribute case studies that bring the numbers to life. We want to hear your story.

Why your contribution matters

The economic and societal value of space data is significant and growing. Yet much of the most compelling evidence lives inside organisations - in project reports, operational metrics, and hard-won lessons from deployment. By sharing your experience, you will help make the case for the sector in a way that no analyst report alone can achieve. Your contribution will shape conversations with policymakers, investors, and industry peers at the highest level.

The themes we are exploring

We are seeking case studies across a wide range of application areas, including:

Defence and national security

How is space data supporting intelligence, surveillance, situational awareness, and the protection of critical national infrastructure? As geopolitical tensions reshape the strategic landscape, the defence use case for space data has never been more urgent.

Sustainability and environmental monitoring

From greenhouse gas tracking to biodiversity monitoring and supply chain transparency, space data is becoming a cornerstone of corporate sustainability strategy and regulatory compliance. If your organisation is using Earth observation to meet its net zero commitments or ESG reporting obligations, we want to know how.

Supply chain resilience

Whether it is monitoring commodity flows, identifying disruption risks, or tracing the origins of raw materials, satellite data is giving organisations new visibility into their value chains. Tell us how you are using it.

Combining geospatial data sources for digital twins and physical AI

The fusion of satellite imagery, sensor networks, and AI is enabling dynamic, real-time models of physical environments. We are keen to hear from organisations building or deploying digital twins powered by space-derived data.

Scaling up data automation and cloud management

As the volume of satellite data grows exponentially, automation and cloud-native architectures are becoming essential. What does your data pipeline look like, and what have you learned along the way?

The future of in-orbit services and the space economy

From on-orbit servicing and space situational awareness to commercial lunar activity, the in-orbit economy is expanding fast. We want to understand how UK organisations are positioning themselves.

Energy and water digitalisation, and enhanced mobility

Space data is enabling smarter grids, more efficient water management, and more connected transport networks. If you are working at this intersection, your insights are invaluable.

Urban planning and connectivity infrastructure

How is geospatial data informing decisions about where to build, how to connect, and how to make cities more resilient?

Robotics and autonomous systems communications

The role of space-based communications in enabling autonomous vehicles, drones, and robotics is growing rapidly. We are looking for real examples from the frontier.

How to get involved

Contributing is straightforward. We are not asking for lengthy submissions a concise (600-word) description of the challenge, solution, and measurable impact is all we need to get started. Our team will work with you to shape the material and ensure it reflects your organisation appropriately. Find more about our contributor’s guidelines here

To express your interest or submit a case study, please contact [email protected] by Friday 17 July 2026.

This is your opportunity to put your organisation's work at the centre of a national conversation about the future of space data. We look forward to hearing from you.
