Briefing with Life Sciences Hub Wales

Catch-up on techUK's briefing with the CEO of Life Sciences Hub Wales.

techUK welcomed Cari-Anne Quinn, Chief Executive Officer of Life Sciences Hub Wales, to present to members on the activity going on at Life Sciences Hub Wales. 

Life Sciences Hub Wales work to create connections across the business community and help public sector stakeholders and clinical teams understand the types of technologies available. 

Cari-Anne began by recognising that for the health and care system to improve outcomes, it must rapidly embrace new technology and new ways of working. She also spoke to the importance of understanding the link between 'health and wealth', and the need the view health as an economic driver. 

Aims of Life Sciences Hub Wales include:

  1. Convene - bring together the health life sciences ecosystem
  2. Integrate - support a coherent and collaborative approach
  3. Accelerate - access to transformative innovation
  4. Advocate - influencing at a UK level

Digital Innovation in the Life Sciences Industry

techUK has launched a Life Sciences workstream, bringing together members actively working in drug discovery, digital therapeutics, data and AI, or those interested in moving into this space. As the Life Sciences sector looks to introduce digital health technologies into its portfolio, techUK are shaping the conversation.

Interoperability Working Group

The Interoperability Working Group will work towards achieving the vision set out in NHS England’s 2022 draft standards and interoperability strategy. The group will aim to encourage the adoption of open standards and fluidity of data whilst recognising the commercial needs of members. It will also focus on demonstrating the value of interoperability to NHS senior management and improving the abilities of SMEs to implement interoperability standards.
