This techUK roundtable will bring together key industry players and thought-leaders to discuss what these proposals might mean for the communications sector through the decade, as increasingly, mobile networks form part of the range of different wireless technologies people use to meet their needs at different times, whether that is using Wi-Fi at home or work, or mobile networks when we are on the go.
The session will include a discussion on:
The rise of “data-hungry” digital services such as streaming, video calls, virtual reality and automation
The role of non-mobile operators in our mobile market, such as cloud-based service providers
The impact of private networks for enterprise and the public sector
Technology changes in how mobile services are delivered
The role of the regulator in creating the right environment for investment, and what the future looks like for consolidation
We will also examine the spectrum needs for meeting future demand for mobile data, including the impact of more extensive deployment of spectrum holdings, new tech upgrades to increase spectrum efficiency, and network densification. Ofcom notes that much uncertainty remains—from new applications, device availability and take-up, pricing and traffic location.
Speakers:
Tanja Salem, Director of Economics, BT Group
William Webb, CEO - Webb Search Ltd
Brian Potterill, Director of Mobile Network Strategy, Ofcom
Nina Percival, Principal Strategy Advisor, Spectrum, Ofcom
