Join us at techUK on Friday 16 May from 12:00 to 14:00 for a discussion and informal lunch with representatives from the U.S. Embassy in London and U.S. diplomats from across Europe. This exclusive session will focus on the evolving landscape of technology regulation in the UK and the EU.

Antony Walker, Deputy CEO at techUK, and Sue Daley OBE, Director of Tech & Innovation at techUK, will provide an overview of the current regulatory environment in the UK and the EU, highlighting key developments and techUK’s perspectives on existing and forthcoming legislation.

We will then open the floor to members to express their views and share insights on the digital regulatory landscape in the UK and the EU. Members will be encouraged to address the following specific topics:

  • EU regulatory compliance – What challenges do firms face when complying with key pieces of EU legislations such as the DMA, DSA, and AI act?
  • UK regulatory compliance – How are firms addressing upcoming compliance requirements under the Online Safety Act and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Bill (DMCC)?
  • UK Government’s Regulatory Innovation Office – What is industry’s view on the Regulatory Innovation office established in October 2024?
  • EU and UK approaches to AI – With the EU actively working on its AI approach through its AI act implementation, the publishing of its AI Continent Action Plan on 9 April, and the soon to be published GPAI code of practice and GPAI guidelines, what impacts can we expect on AI regulatory approaches in the UK? How do you view the UK’s AI Opportunities Action Plan and how can firms best benefit from the opportunities presented by the plan?

Most importantly, Members will be encouraged to share how they think the US Government and its embassies across the UK and Europe can support industry in dealing with these challenges.

The session will conclude with an informal lunch, offering further opportunity for networking and dialogue.
