This roundtable will take place fully in person at techUK’s Office. There will be no dial in option available. With limited spaces, we are requesting one representative per company.

Due to high demand we will host session 1 on Thursday 22 February and session 2 on Tuesday 12 March. All those unable to attend or who weren't selected will be sent a request from the Home Office to submit a written response. Thank you.

Context

As has been discussed many times, the current data and technology landscape for policing is complex and does not always ensure the optimal delivery of services. It is for this reason that a joint policing and home office information strategy for the future collection, delivery and ongoing management of policing information has been proposed.

The aim would be to develop a high-level Information Strategy and roadmap that will transform the efficiency and effectiveness in which policing delivers data capabilities. At a local level it will set the requirements for each force in its relationship with data quality, retention, sharing etc and at a national level it will support the consistent collection of force level data to drive national decisions and feed national systems.

This approach will provide direction and support to policing and will deliver three key advantages 1) it will allow forces to utilise data they already hold more effectively, 2) it will enable the benefits from investments in new data sets and digital capabilities to be fully realised, and 3) it supports the national data and technology landscape.

The ask

You will be asked at the roundtable to respond to the following questions:

1. What would the market expect from the Information Strategy?

2. How could policing better procure products and services in the future?

3. How can we achieve an optimum balance between standards and consistency and innovation?
