Health Data Research UK (HDR UK), established in 2018, is the national institute for health data science, with the aim to support research on health data at scale to advance understanding of disease and enable new discoveries that will ultimately improve health and care. One of the main pillars of their work is the Health Data Research Innovation Gateway- a portal that facilitates discovery and requests for access to UK health datasets. The Gateway currently lists over 650 datasets from over 40 data custodians (such as Genomics England, NHS Digital, Public Health England, ONS, HQIP and more) as well as associated health data resources including projects, papers and tools.

This event will give an introduction to the Gateway and a demonstration of its features such as the data access request process, as well as the new Cohort Discovery feature which allows users to carry out a more specific search to find cohorts of patients. The Gateway is just over a year old and HDR UK are still at the start of the journey and want it to become a portal that works for academia and industry alike. During this session, they would like to get your feedback on the Gateway and your experience of discovering and accessing health data, so do come with plenty of questions!
