Over the past 12 months, Hudson & Hayes have been working closely with NHS England to build AI literacy, map out practical use cases, and co-develop solutions that address real challenges in healthcare delivery. Through our work consulting with 11 ICBs across the Midlands and engaging with nearly 100 clinical and non-clinical stakeholders, we’ve identified practical lessons that can support trusts and ICBs at every stage of their AI journey.

In this session, Simon Mahony and colleagues from NHS England will share practical insights on:

  • Building AI literacy to understand the art of the possible
  • Prioritising initiatives for impact on patient outcomes and productivity
  • Managing risks, including hallucinations and clinical safety
  • Balancing advanced AI with simpler tools like RPA for immediate value
  • Embedding design thinking and scalability from the start
  • Avoiding hype- focusing on solving real-world challenges such as reducing DNAs and demand
  • Making Vendor Solutions Scalable for NHS Adoption

This will be a candid, experience-led conversation- not all the answers, but real lessons, practical guidance, and a discussion of what it truly takes to make AI work in healthcare.
