Tomorrow, the United Kingdom and the United States of America will formally start negotiations on a free trade agreement. techUK welcomes the announcement and supports a comprehensive, ambitious agreement with a strong focus on digital trade.

 

Commenting on tomorrow’s official launch, Julian David, CEO of techUK, said:

The United States is one of our most important partners for both exports of UK technology and inward investment in our digital economy. The US is a global tech leader and the UK is Europe’s largest digital economy. Together, as we move into a post-COVID world, we should aim for progressive, ambitious digital trade provisions that will help build the economy of the future. Data flows and an open Internet are key enablers for our people and our SMEs, and will play a crucial role in our economic recovery and resilience after this crisis.
