'Report Fraud’ Service Replaces Action Fraud as UK’s Official Reporting Portal

On the 4 December, the City of London Police launched a new service to replace ‘Action Fraud’: ‘Report Fraud’.

What is Report Fraud?

‘Report Fraud’ is the new service run by the City of London Police, that replaces Action Fraud as the national platform for reporting cyber crime and fraud.

The new service will aim to enable a better user experience for victims of fraud to act and provide the police with the information needed to build the strongest possible collection of crime intelligence. The new system will be a central pillar of law enforcement’s renewed approach to fraud, which has become the most common crime across the country, with estimated costs to the economy of billions of pounds every year.

The service includes everything from how reports are made using a new Report Fraud hub (website), to how reports are then analysed, and how victims are supported.

The new system replaces Action Fraud and consists of three key elements:

  • Report Fraud Contact Centre and Reporting Tool – a streamlined online and telephone service where victims can report incidents of cyber crime and fraud.
  • Report Fraud National Crime Analysis Service (N-CAS) – a new backend system replacing that previously used by Action Fraud, giving all police forces improved access to higher-quality crime intelligence.
  • Report Fraud Victim Service – continuing and expanding the work of the National Economic Crime Victim Care Unit, with dedicated specialist teams providing targeted care and support to victims.

The City of London Police say that it will:

  • Make reporting easier and quicker for people from all backgrounds.
  • Keep victims better informed about the status of their reports.
  • Notify victims when their information has helped protect others.
  • Provide timely advice to help individuals and businesses avoid emerging threats.
  • Improve the speed and quality of intelligence shared with law enforcement partners, increasing the likelihood of successful prosecutions.
  • Disrupt criminal activity by supplying real-time intelligence to organisations able to tackle fraudulent websites, bank accounts and other enablers of crime.

What happens next?

Look out for the new service and Report Fraud hub which will contain the link to the new reporting tool for everyone who has been a victim of cyber crime or fraud to use.

Learn more about the new service, and get ready for the public launch in January 2026.
