Nominations open for techUK Main Board Elected Directors

techUK is pleased to invite nominations from our techUK SME members for four Elected Director positions on our Main Board, which arise from the annual rotation of Elected Directors in accordance with our Articles of Association. Details of the governance structure and role of the Main Board can be found here.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference for the UK tech sector, helping us shape our direction and priorities and working with peers across industry to maximise our collective impact. The Board represents the diversity of the techUK membership, and we encourage nominations from SMEs across every part of the sector and all regions of the UK, to strengthen SME representation and better reflect the make-up of our membership.

What is involved

Your commitment would be to participate in four two-hour, in-person board meetings each year. At these meetings board members are updated on business performance and asked to provide input on key priorities for the organisation and its membership. SME board members are provided with additional support and briefings as required, to ensure they are able to fulfil their role.

Elected Directors serve for a period of three years and are also encouraged to engage with techUK activities that align with their priorities outside of the main Board meetings.

Process

Any employee of an SME member company is invited to put themselves forward for an Elected Director position by completing the online nomination form by noon on Friday 27 March 2026.

During April, all eligible nominations will be shared with the authorised representative of all techUK member companies, with each member company being able to cast one vote. The voting form will only be accessible by each organisation’s authorised representative. If you wish to check who your authorised representative is, please log into the techUK website and visit ‘My Homepage’.

Please note that, while the sharing of your nomination via social media across your networks is allowed, mass emailing of members to generate voting support is not, and can lead to disqualification.

The nominees with the highest number of votes from across the techUK membership will be proposed to the Nominations Committee, and subsequently the Main Board for approval. The process culminates in ratification of new appointees at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which will be held on Wednesday 1 July 2026 at 12:00.

Eligibility

  • Elected Director positions are only open to individuals in current employment with an active SME techUK member whose membership fees are paid in full and are not in resignation.
  • A Small or Medium-Sized Enterprise (SME) is defined by techUK as a member company whose global turnover and global headcount meets the conditions set out in section 465 of the Companies Act 2006, namely global turnover of no more than £54 million and no more than 250 global employees.
  • Members should not apply unless they are willing to commit to attending four in-person Board meetings per annum.

We hope you will be interested in getting involved. If you have any queries concerning Board membership or the election process then please contact [email protected].
