Hottest Jobs in tech right now

Relentless advances in emerging technologies, global pandemics and now the ‘great resignation’ all mean that an agile approach to tech education is more important than ever.

What are the hottest roles in tech right now?

Our partners, Learning People are the UK’s largest online tech education and training provider successfully delivering career changing tech industry training within IT, Project Management and Coding

Established in 2010 Learning People are Europe’s leading digital school - educating students to professional industry standards across the tech landscape. Providing enrolment to employment solutions for students has helped them to gain valuable insight into the tech sector - what it looks for and how best to service it.

We asked them what are the hottest tech roles right now - and how do we ensure there’s enough applicants with the right skills to meet the demand?

Cyber Security

We’ve heard the woes of cyber security recruitment demand since our inception in 2010 and this still stands up as one of the hottest - and to some, one of the most attractive tech roles. Who wouldn’t want to save the world by keeping industry and individuals safe and secure?

With a light speed landscape, and a plethora of positions available, the global cyber security skills gap is simply not going away. As a result certifications have responded to match the wide ranging skill sets developing from this organic response to an increasingly pervasive threat landscape that organisations now find themselves in.

Offering a mix of disciplines including threat and vulnerability management, cyber tool set implementation, and cyber incident response - the devil is in the detail for a cyber pro, and knowing your networks is crucial. However, thanks to advances in digital education pathways - the requirement of 5 years ‘on the job experience’ of routing and switching can be virtually removed - and instead replaced by globally recognised certification training married to hands-on lab experience.

Cloud computing

With 94% of enterprise businesses already using cloud services the global cloud computing market size is expected to grow from USD 445.3 billion in 2021 to USD 947.3 billion by 2026. The global demand for professionally certified engineers who are confident in the implementation, maintenance, and development of the cloud continues to soar.

This aside, the demands of cloud are fluid making the role itself dynamic, future proof, and financially rewarding.

Options for a role in cloud computing reach far and wide from the ‘first line’ of cloud administration all the way up to senior cloud engineer.  Again, thanks to significant advances in EdTech, realising these ultra-critical real world skill-sets can be accelerated thanks to industry aligned practical education. We’ve seen career changing students graduate in months (not years) to professional cloud computing standards.

Data

We live in a data driven world - and the heady mix of both analytical and software specialisms encompassing the deliverables of a ‘data’ professional have never been more crucial.  Looking over and above the weeds for a moment though, the true intent of a data specialist is to help businesses make intelligent decisions, which tends to explain the soaring demand across a variety of sectors.

Imagine an employee who could effectively collate and organise intimidating volumes of business information, visualise it for all stakeholders and staff, and then by doing so enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and profit. It’s little wonder that data specialists experience both fulfilling and in demand careers.

There’s several ways however, of getting into data - there might be a background of business analysis, basic coding, economics, or even healthcare, marketing or psychology. The fundamentals, however, do require mathematical aptitude and basic programming experience.  The positive news on this story does mean however, that career changing into data (for individuals), or upskilling existing employees (for a business) is more possible than ever.
