Event round-up: DLT Technologies and the mining sector

On the 10th March, techUK’s Tech and Innovation Programme partnered with the Climate Programme, to explore the role of DLT technologies in promoting responsible mining.

In light of the recent Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) due diligence publication and increased global scrutiny on sustainability and responsible sourcing, DLT technologies are a valuable asset; making it easier for companies to comply with regulations and ensure materials are sourced ethically.

This webinar began by providing an overview of the recent RMI due diligence guidelines. This was followed up by presentations covering current uses of blockchain technologies, the potential for future use cases, and closed with discussions on how blockchain technologies can provide real-time supply chain transparency.

Speakers included:

  • Paramita Das, General Manager - Rio Tinto
  • Tanya Matveeva, Founder - KAMNI Chain
  • Fearghal Kearney, VP EMEA – Circulor
