DWP Digital: Strategic Supplier Market Engagement event round-up
On the 9 October we hosted the Department of Work and Pensions for a market engagement event. DWP have been looking to engage with industry on their technology strategy and commercial approach for their major tech programmes.
The aim of the event was to establish a more structured and proactive approach to market engagement across the Department’s tech landscape. DWP sought industry expertise to inform their strategy.
Matthew Bradley, Commercial Director for DWP kicked off the event, delighted that the event was something they were able to deliver to attendees – describing it as the start of a conversation, not the end of one.
DWP really want to fulfil ideas with the market that are based on their strategy, they want to guide industry to where they are going over the coming years. Attendees heard about who DWP are, what they do and the digital function, they heard about their Strategy and Key focus areas which hopefully provided an insight to where industry can support DWP – their want is to be a function that is highly capable and leading in their delivery – so they remain very reliant and interested in working with the market in order to deliver outcomes.
Attendees also heard about their Digital Innovation Strategy and about DWP’s In Life Management team – who are responsible for putting contracts in place and managing suppliers throughout their contract. Finally, the DWP team provided more insight into how industry can join up with DWP, including next steps and how attendees can take advantage of the information presented at the event.
Next steps include a feedback form inviting initial responses and feedback– this was sent to attendees following the event - there were various asks for input throughout the presentation. DWP is keen to hear as much as possible from industry so please do share your thoughts if you have any.
