Data Centre Security: Fighting on Two Fronts

Read the white paper from Genetec and techUK on balancing regulation, physical security and cyber

Juggling regulatory requirements, cyber risk and physical security in data centres

White paper from Genetec and techUK

techUK is delighted to support this white paper from Genetec, which explores some of the knottier security issues facing data centre operators.

The need to comply with a host of legal requirements, meet relevant standards and fulfil multiple – and sometimes different - security and resilience SLAs for customers is onerous enough for data centre operators, especially if operations extend to multiple sites.  Then we have to add in obligations such as data subject access, a provision under GDPR that can be complex to fulfil in practice.  Finally, operators need to ensure that the relative responsibilities of customer and provider are fully understood – all too often the former take the view that their responsibilities end at the security fence.

So how do we resolve this confusion and accommodate the multiple and sometimes conflicting challenges facing operators?  This white paper explores each issue in turn, identifies common pitfalls  and sets out helpful rules of thumb for operators trying to navigate this complex landscape.
