Since 2019, techUK has sought to drive forward the conversation around the adoption of digital identity technologies, publishing white papers in 2019 and in 2020. These reports highlight key areas in which digital identities can offer a significant economic benefit, setting out key recommendations for action and calling on Government to recognise digital identities as a central component of the UK digital economy.
Last year, techUK hosted its first ever Digital Identity Event Series drawing in expertise and insights from across the sector and our membership to explore the technology in the context of a number of different areas including financial inclusion and fraud prevention, as well as looking at the state-of-play for digital ID in the UK. You can catch up with all of the sessions here.
Following the success of 2021, techUK is excited to extend the series and will continue to host events exploring digital identity technologies throughout 2022. The series will examine how digital ID is and can be applied across different sectors, what more needs to be done to increase adoption, how regulation is developing in the UK and beyond, and seek to illustrate the key role digital ID can play in the future of the digital economy.
The current programme of events included in techUK’s Digital Identity Event Series 2022 can be found below, but keep your eyes peeled for more throughout the year. And have your say and join the conversation by using the hashtag #DigitalID2022 on social media!

Inclusion & Diversity in Digital ID - June 2022
Diversity and inclusion sits at the heart of digital growth. The tech sector understands that innovation thrives from diversity of thought and is continually looking to attract, recruit and retain a diverse workforce and this requires a change of mindset away from the more traditional criteria upon which people are judged to assess their suitability for roles.
As an industry and society, we must each of us take responsibility for our own internal bias and preconceptions to fully embrace diversity and inclusion in everything we do if we are to realise the benefits of a more balanced, representative and inclusive world and the tech industry is well placed to take the lead in this endeavour.
Join esteemed guests and techUK's Digital Identity Programme Manager, Iain McCallum at 11:00 on Thursday 2nd June 2022 for the next live webinar in the 2022 Digital ID Event Series ‘Inclusion & Diversity in Digital ID’
More details and further sessions will be announced throughout the year, please check back here for all of the info!
