An invitation to shape the future of public safety
You are invited to an exclusive industry briefing where the Home Office will outline a series of bold new challenges designed to transform public safety through innovation. This session offers a unique opportunity for industry partners to collaborate on cutting-edge solutions that use artificial intelligence to tackle Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG).
Collaboration to drive innovation
This Challenge aligns with the forthcoming national VAWG strategy and builds on extensive work already completed across government. Senior leaders from policing, the Home Office, academia, UKRI and wider industry, including representatives from the Department for Education, Department of Health and Social Care, Ministry of Justice, CPS, techUK, the Accelerated Capability Environment and others, have worked together to conduct R&D mapping, a gap analysis and multiple cross-government workshops. These activities have identified the priority areas where innovation can make the greatest impact, and we are now inviting industry to help develop the next wave of solutions.
What you’ll hear on the day
At the briefing, you’ll hear the challenge statements, the innovation focus areas, and the types of approaches we are seeking to explore. You’ll also be introduced to the delivery pathway - including the Expression of Interest (EOI) stage, competitive selection, and the innovation sprints that will shape the next phase of development. This is not simply a briefing: it is an invitation to contribute directly to a national mission.
As part of the government’s five cross-cutting Missions designed to address major societal challenges, the Safer Streets Mission - led by the Home Secretary - takes a whole-system approach to reducing serious harm and restoring public confidence in policing and the criminal justice system. At its centre is an ambitious goal: to halve VAWG and knife crime within the next decade. With VAWG now accounting for over 20% of recorded crime in England and Wales - a 37% increase since 2018/19 - bold and coordinated action is essential. Your expertise can play a vital role.
