On 30 November Ofgem, the energy regulator, opened a consultation on Data Sharing in a Digital Future: Consumer Consent.
This consultation aims to give domestic and microbusiness consumers the ability to share their energy data securely with trusted market participants who can provide them with energy services to lower their bills as well as their carbon footprint.
Alongside data protection regulations, there are three objectives to meet in assessing how best to empower consumers to share their data:
- Improve consumer trust in data-sharing services,
- Improve access to personal data across the sector,
- and Develop a consent process or mechanism.
This briefing event will be held jointly with colleagues from Ofgem.
Members will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the proposed questions.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on 26 January 2024, either through techUK or directly to [email protected]
