Around 300 councils have declared a climate emergency. Councils are taking action to reduce their own carbon emissions and working with partners to tackle the impact of climate change on their local area. As councils focus on local economic recovery, many are also considering how this will be greener and more inclusive. How can councils, cities and regions collaborate with tech suppliers to create greener, thriving places?

The Royal Society concluded that digital technologies are essential in helping us meet net zero, cost effectively. While the Greening government: ICT and digital services strategy 2020-2025 sets out targets on the improvement of management of resources and waste, and the procurement of sustainable technology and digital services. So, how does this strategy, alongside the Social Value Act apply to local government?

In this webinar we will better understand how councils are planning to meet net zero, how they are measuring and capturing environmental data, and the impact on public procurement. As local government increasingly includes sustainability requirements in tenders, how can SMEs be equipped to support councils tackle the climate change crisis not disadvantaged by requirements? What emerging technologies can help councils meet their green ambitions, and how can local government and industry better collaborate to solve one of the biggest societal challenges we face?
