Yorkshire Data & Digital Conference 2023, 19 September

Member event: Tackling the Cyber Skills Gap - Leeds Digital Festival, 19 September
Hays will present their Cyber Security Report 2023 which states that over 70 per cent of organisations will be investing in upskilling their cyber professionals. They will also have 2 guest speakers from industry: talking about moving from Greenfield to Cyber Maturity and then choosing the best Software plus developing the team! They will also discuss their NEW – Hire Train Deploy offering, as they help organisations to improve their security posture and diversity.
Member event: Attracting, Employing and Retaining Diverse Talent - Leeds Digital Festival, 27 September
At Generation and Hays they understand that attracting and recruiting diverse talent in the tech industry is more complex than just making a great statement on Job Descriptions and hoping for the best. Candidates whilst hugely talented and motivated for success, typically experience multiple barriers entering the workplace. Whether that’s through a lack of industry experience or a related degree; or coming from a low socio-economic background, capacity to support people with multiple barriers is a key ingredient in Generations’s success in unlocking opportunities for both job seekers and employers in the region, connecting underrepresented talent with growing organisations. They will host a panel event with representation from each key function in the Generation machine to explore what common themes occur and what businesses need to consider at each stage of an applicant’s employment journey.

Matt is techUK’s Head of Nations and Regions.
Matt is leading techUK’s work with members and stakeholders across the UK to increase the Local Digital Capital across the UK’s nation and regions, build communities and to ensure that digital technology plays a key part the post-COVID-19 levelling-up recovery.
Prior to joining techUK, Matt worked for several national education charities and membership bodies to develop their regional partnerships with schools, academy trusts, local authorities, and other stakeholders. He’s also worked with local authority leaders and other stakeholders to engage communities, work with elected members and improve public services.
He holds a BA in Politics from the University of York and an MA in International Relations from the University of Leeds. Away from work he’s a keen football fan and golfer.

Ileana Lupsa is the Programme Manager for Local Public Services and Nations and Regions, at techUK.
Ileana studied electronics, telecommunications and IT as an undergraduate, followed by an MSc in engineering and project management at Coventry University.
She refined her programme management expertise through her most recent roles working in the automotive industry.
Ileana is passionate about sustainability and creating a positive impact globally through innovation.
