For the past year, NHS Digital, the national information and technology partner to the health and social care system, has played a key role in the response to COVID-19. It has provided the data and tools required to help the system understand the prevalence of disease, informing plans to manage capacity and address the challenges brought by the epidemic. At the beginning of the crisis, the organisation supported the deployment of virtual consultation capabilities across primary and secondary care, one of the areas where we saw significant change during COVID-19, and enabled collaboration through the deployment of Microsoft Teams for the 1.2 million NHS users.
To look at some of these developments in more detail, NHS Digital Chief Executive Sarah Wilkinson, recently voted as the most influential person in UK technology by Computer Weekly, and Chief Commercial Officer Nic Fox will be joining members for an industry briefing on 17 March. The session will touch on NHS Digital’s response to COVID-19, priorities for the year ahead, our Ten Point Plan for Healthtech and the important role of industry in building a world-class digital health and care service.
